The most amazing thing...

December 31, 2007

Thursday morning after Christmas I had to attend to some
personal business so, I went to the store at 8:30am to
place a note on the door informing my early morning
customers that I would not be opening until 10AM. When I
arrived back at the store at 10AM I found two boxes and a
bag of merchandise at my front door. The word "gift"was
written all over it. When I looked inside there were
books, jewelry, and figurines but no name...
So many emotions went through me; happy, confused;
mistrusting; joy, amazement. What to do with this gift?
How to share with others... so I have decided to mark them
as a special department. When I take items on consignment
from various artists I take a percentage for the store and
a larger percentage goes back to the individual. In this
case, there is no individual to pay so I will set that
money aside for a special fund. This fund will be used to
create positive change in our world. As we are a member of
the Pocono Region Interfaith ministry, we as a group will
decide on how to best use this profit. Maybe we can adopt
a village in some poverty area of the world, maybe we can
adopt a community in the Celtics Isles to preserve history
as accurately as possible? Maybe we can find something
local to help, I don't know yet. One thing for sure, we
will create something that can be built on and added to,
something that can grow as we grow as a ministry and as a
community. Perhaps this will become a trend; creating a
section of the store that supports this cause. So please,
send me your ideas. The ministry meets next weekend and I
would like to begin this process. We have time because it
will take awhile for this fund to grow and we have time to
find the right cause for our gifts. Remember, anyone can
join the Pocono Region Interfaith ministry Church, either
as a minister or as a member. For more information, call
us and we will give you the necessary information.
To the person who donated these items, thank you. You are
loved and cherished for sparking this project. I love that
you are out there sharing and giving to those around you
who are in need.
In Love,
Kathy
