What is a Reiki Treatment?

Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) is the Japanese word for Universal Life Energy. It is a method of natural healing that channels energy through a practitioner's hands to restore health and a sense of well being.

This is done with the client fully clothed, lying down on a massage table. The format of a reiki treatment will vary somewhat with each practitioner, however, the primary focus will be on painful areas within the body.

The practitioner's hands are placed on particular areas of the body relative to energy centers (or Charkas). 

If you are uncomfortable with a particular hand placement, let your practitioner know as there are optional hand positions. Intuitively, the practitioner will move their hands from one position to another. All practitioners must be certified. A full treatment lasts 1 hour and outcomes are different with each treatment. However, Reiki always leaves a client with a sense of well-being. Reiki also facilitates spiritual growth.

Reiki Exchange - What is it ?:  Those of you who have at least a level I reiki certificate can come together to practice their skills.
